These are Troubled Times for Software Patents

“Anything under the sun that is made by man.” That is how Chief Justice warren Burger in 1980 described the expansive scope of what types of inventions are eligible subject matter under the U.S. patent laws.

Of course, in order for something to be patentable, it is not enough to be directed to patent-eligible subject matter — it must also satisfy the other requirements under the patent laws.
